Beyond Borders:
Cross-Cultural Anthropological
Poetry

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE:

Six-week online course features teaching modules, writing exercises, group activities, visual poetry storytelling, a short ethnographic project, and a final anthropological poetry project.

Participants meet once a week to explore basic anthropological ideas, methods, and topics. They will weave these in to create poems beyond borders that intersect with what it means to be human.

In-class prompts will encourage weekly writing exercises between classes so participants can work toward a final project.

For anthropologists, this workshop can help you do justice to your data—not leave behind significant insights, interactive moments, and emotive truths.

For general poets & poetry lovers, learn how to write poems from your own "field site" and engage your social world in new ways through your creative work.
